WEST WELL WINES SUMMER FIELD 2020

Sustainable

This is a blend of 50% Pinot Meunier, 45% Pinot Noir, and 5% Chardonnay.

The grapes were picked around October, then destemmed into stainless steel, left to macerated, racked and fermented with indigenous yeasts all at cool temperatures. The wine saw malo in May then was bottled in June.

These guys are located near Ashford, near the Pilgrims Way , with all of the wine being made on site with estate grown fruit.

In 2018, they halved all herbicide spraying, and only using non organic sprays to annually.

They add cover crops within the vineyard to promote healthy soils, and have a wildflower meadow to encourage biodiversity.

Having tasted some of their white wines last year and being impressed I was looking forward to tasting this from them.

I have to say, it's got some serious aromatics going on. Plenty of fresh red fruits, and this fresh herbal aroma too. I love the hint of wild flowers and that almost zestiness on the nose.

The palate is dry, medium bodied and the acidity isn't too dominant in the wine. Sometimes the acidity can be too brash, but this alongside the fresh vibrant tannins is delicious.

I really like this wine. It's fun, fragrant and full of character. Worth getting a bottle of for sure.

You can purchase this and many of their other wines at www.westwellwines.com for £19.50.
