Les Vins de la Gabare is a super tasty Cabernet Franc made by Nicolas Reau and other local growers within the Anjou of the Loire Valley.

The vineyards are farmed organically, then manually harvested into small crates, with a wild yeast fermentation with no temperature control, with max 12 months ageing in oak, with full malo too.

I'm pleased to say that after it's slightly funky nose, the wine opened up a bit and showed its true colours. It's deep scented aromas of green bell peppers, fresh crunchy fruits and this vibrant texture too. There was a wiff of some earthy aromas at the start but these soon vanished. The palate is dry, medium bodied and full of freshness.


I purchased this bottle from the team BeerAmbleside for £16.95. It's a great wine for midweek drinking, perfect with loads of different foods and great value for what it is.

I'd recommend decanting if you can.
