FRANK CORNELISSEN, ‘MUNJEBEL’, SICILY, ITALY, 2017

Organic/Natural

For those who know, then you know. For those who don't know, we'll it's worth getting hold of some...

www.frankcornelissen.it was established in 2001 and has become known all over the world for their naturalistic approach to winemaking. Their wines speak for themselves.

This is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese and is grown on volcanic soils within the comune of Castiglione Di Sicilia. With the average age of the vines at 40+ years, one could mistake the wine for a top end Burgundy.

The wine is 100% Organic and saw a very light crush after destemming. The fermentation was done with indigenous yeasts and skin contact for nearly 50 days. It was then aged in tanks ranging from 1500 l to 2500 l before being aged for a further 18 months in bottle. The wine itself is rich, tannic and sublime. I love the dark brooding fruits and that chewy texture on the palate. Its wild, fun and unique. This is a wine that all serious natural wine drinkers need to get their hands on if they can.

This wine is available from www.buonvino.co.uk for £62.00 www.buonvino.co.uk
