QUENTIN HARREL, ‘BUYON’, BEAUJOLAIS, BURGUNDY, FRANCE, 2020

Organic/Natural

A few nights ago I decided to crack open this bottle from @quentin.harel.beaujolais

Having always been an avid fan of Beaujolais , and having tasted some previous vintages, it's safe to say that excitement was in the air.

For those who don't know, Quentin began his venture into winemaking back in 2012 and farms all of this vines organically, and is located just south of the Cote de Brouilly, and is one of the regions serious talents.

This delicious Gamay is made from goblet trained vines, which saw a whole bunch ferment for 7 days, followed by ageing in concrete tanks with zero sulphur added.

These wines are fun, fresh and full of character. There's a real vibrancy to them to lifts the aromas in the glass of fresh currants, and bramble aromas. Once the wine opens up slightly, it's perfumed aromas of wild florals and earthy characters are super interesting. On the palate the wine is medium bodied, fresh, with an quality that deserves to be looked and and drunk.
