KEEP WINES "LOST SLOUGH VINEYARD" ALBARIÑO, clarksburg, california, usa, 2017

Organic

Albarino is a grape that many of us know rather well. For those looking for easy drinking, dry white wines we often head to Galicia in North West Spain for some great examples, however this one from California is a real gem.

Made by Jack Roberts & Johanna Jensen, Keep Wines are known for their “non interventionist” approach to their wine making. Jack worked with Steve Matthiasson for many a year learning and homing in his craft, following such practices as regenerative farming and sustainability.

This Albarino saw a native fermentation, then aged in neutral oak for 18 months, then a further 18 months bottle ageing before being released. The wine has bags of character, with aromas of nectarines, lemon juice with a hint of papaya also. I love that slightly salty twang on the palate, which is dry and with a decent amount of acidity there too.

This is a superb bottle of wine and one that I would suggest getting hold of whilst you can - only 140 cases were produced.

ABV - 12.75%

You can purchase this through the team at Nekter Wines - Keep Wines "Lost Slough Vineyard" Albariño 2017 — Nekter Wines for £38.20
